United won the battle but did Spurs win the war?
Premier League MW 10
Leicester 0 vs. 2 Arsenal
Gabriel scored in the 5th minute to give Arsenal the lead and Smith Rowe made it two in the 18th minute. Leicester tried hard to get back into the game but Ramsdale pulled off some fine saves to keep Arsenal in the lead. Leicester drop down to 11th with the loss while Arsenal move up to 6th in the table with the win.
Watford 0 vs. 1 Southampton
Adams scored in the 20th minute to give Southampton the lead and the Saints held on to it for 3 points. Watford drop down to 16th in the table while Southampton move up to 14th with their 2nd win of the season.
Liverpool 2 vs. 2 Brighton
Henderson scored in the 4th minute and Mane scored in the 24th minute as Liverpool took a quick 2-0 lead. Brighton stuck to their plan and got one back before half time with Mwepu scoring in the 41st minute. Trossard scored in the 65th minute to equalise for Brighton and Brighton for sure ended the game as the better team. Liverpool remain 2nd but now 3 points behind Chelsea while Brighton drop down to 8th with the draw and are now winless in 5 but have drawn 4 of those games.
Man City 0 vs. 2 Crystal Palace
Zaha scored in the 6th minute to give Palace the lead and Laporte was sent off for City before half time. Gallagher then scored the 2nd goal in the 88th minute as Vieira beat Pep at the Etihad for Palace’s 2nd win of the season. City remain 3rd in the table but now 5 points behind Chelsea while Palace move up to 13th in the table.
Burnley 3 vs. 1 Brentford
Wood scored in the 4th minute to give Burnley the lead. Lowton and Cornet then scored in quick succession to make it 3-0 and send Burnley into cruise control. Ghoddos got one back for Brentford in the 79th minute but it was nothing more than consolation. Brentford fell for the Burnley trap in this game and the long balls out from the back did not work against Burnley’s defenders. Burnley remain 18th but get their first win of the season while Brentford remain 12th but have now lost 3 games in a row.
Tottenham 0 vs. 3 Man United
This was labelled as the El Sackiko and it delivered in the sense that Spurs lost and Nuno was sacked on Monday. Ole switched to a back 5 completely abandoning the way he plays so that he could keep his job and survives for another day. Ronaldo, Cavani, and Rashford scored the goals. The reason I say that Tottenham might have won the war is because Conte is the next manager in at Spurs and Conte is a world class manager, a manager that United had a chance of getting but stuck with Ole. Tottenham drop down to 9th in the table while United move up to 5th with the win.
Norwich 1 vs. 2 Leeds
Raphinha scored in the 56th minute to give Leeds the lead but Omobamidele equalised for Norwich in the 58th minute. The lead was short lived with Rodrigo scoring in the 60th minute and sealing the win for Leeds. Norwich remain bottom of the table with now wins while Leeds remain 17th and get their 2nd with of the season.
Aston Villa 1 vs. 4 West Ham
Johnson scored in the 7th minute to give West Ham the lead but Watkins equalised for Villa in the 34th minute. Rice restored West Ham’s lead in the 38th minute and Konsa was sent off for Villa in the 50th minute. Fornals made it 3 in the 80th minute and Bowen made it 4 in the 84th minute. Villa drop down to 15th in the table with the loss while West Ham remain 4th and go level with City in 3rd. There is pressure Dean Smith and he could be sacked if results don’t improve.
Wolverhampton 2 vs. 1 Everton
Kilman scored in the 28th minus and Jimenez scored in the 32nd minute to give Wolves a 2-0 lead. Iwobi got a consolation goal in the 66th minute. Wolves move up to 7th with the win while Everton drop down to 10th with a 3rd successive loss of the season. Good thing Wolves saw the positive signs and stuck with Lage.
