Chelsea vs. Arsenal MW 26 Preview

London Derby time!

Chelsea take on Arsenal for MW 26 of the Premier League season due to the fact we play Leicester in the FA Cup on Saturday. Arsenal sit 9th in the table, knocked out of the Europa League and with no chance of finishing in the top four. Arsenal are 5 points from a Europa League place and they will not want to finish in 7th. Arsenal have struggled for a number of reasons this season. A poorly built squad and a manager who needs to gain experience. Arteta could become a great manager in time but clubs like Arsenal aren’t places where you come to gain experience. Arsenal have only lost 1 game in their last 5 so this is decent form for them this season.

Chelsea go into this game having beaten Man City on Saturday in a thrilling 1-2 win. It meant that Chelsea are once again 6 points clear of West Ham and we could go 9 points clear of West Ham having played a game more if we win this game. The momentum is strongly in our favour but like Tuchel said in the press conference we haven’t won anything yet. Top four isn’t confirmed, and we still need to win the finals to actually accomplish something this season. Like Tuchel said Chelsea win trophies not just participate in them.

Chelsea Team Preview

Chelsea could rotate some of the players given that we have an FA Cup final on Saturday. Mendy should remain in goal with Zouma, Silva, and Rudiger in defence. I would actually start Livramento in this game giving Reece James a rest with Chilwell on the left. Jorginho, and Gilmour in midfield with Mount, Hudson-Odoi, and Havertz up front. Tammy could start but I doubt it. Plenty of quality on the pitch and plenty of quality on the bench to make a difference. I do want to see Livramento play and I think he could handle that right hand side with the likes of Saka. The defence and midfield is where Chelsea need to take advantage.

Arsenal Team Preview

Leno should be in goal with, Chambers, Holding, Gabriel and Tierney in defence. El Neny and Ceballos should start in midfield with Saka, Odegaard and Pepe behind Aubameyang up front. Willian got his first goal of the season but I doubt he starts in this game. Arteta hasn’t been consistent with his lineups because they haven’t been on a winning run but given the players rested and the form some players are in this team should start. The most dangerous player is Saka as he’s been in quality form this season. Single handedly at times managing to get Arsenal points. Players like Aubameyang are always capable of quality while Odegaard has been decent. Arteta will want to counter with pace like they have done against us multiple times.

Starting XI Prediction

Another tough game but one which could all but seal top four for Tuchel and Chelsea. The squad will be more than up for it especially because it’s a London Derby at home. COME ON CHELSEA!!!
