Weekend Football Preview

Another big weekend of football!

Premier League MW 26

Man City vs. West Ham

Man City sit top of the table and 10 points clear as they take on 4th placed West Ham who are looking to cut the gap to the teams above them. West Ham are unbeaten in their last four and looking lively but City are on another level and should win this game over 90 minutes. It’s going to be close and if West Ham can get a point or more that would be great. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

West Brom vs. Brighton

19th placed West Brom take on 16th placed Brighton with both teams winless in their last 2-3 games. Brighton need to return to winning ways while West Brom sit deep in the relegation zone and any points would be a boost to them. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

Leeds vs. Aston Villa

10th vs. 8th with a point separating the 2 sides and Villa having 2 games in hand. Two attacking teams and two teams looking to entertain Villa will want to return to winning ways. Leeds have been inconsistent but beat Southampton comfortably so this could be a close one. Leeds won the reverse fixture 0-3.

Newcastle vs. Wolverhampton

Newcastle sit 3 points above the relegation zone in 17th while Wolves are unbeaten in their last four and sit 12th in the table. Wolves are in great form and should win this game with Newcastle looking devoid of ideas. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

Crystal Palace vs. Fulham

London derby time with 13th placed Palace playing 18th placed Fulham with the away team unbeaten in their last four. Scott Parker has got Fulham to the cusp of safety and they sit 3 points behind Newcastle. It’s going to be a tough game for both teams but a win for Fulham would be massive. Palace won the reverse fixture 1-2.

Leicester vs. Arsenal

3rd placed Leicester take on 11th placed Arsenal with the Gunners having won 1 game in their last 5. Leicester are unbeaten in their last four and should win this game based on current form. Arsenal will be encouraged by their game against Benfica and Leicester will want to bounce back after going out of the Europa League. A big game for both teams. Leicester won the reverse fixture 0-1.

Tottenham vs. Burnley

9th placed Tottenham have 1 win in their last 6 in the league as they take on 15th placed Burnley who are unbeaten in their last four but also have 1 win in that period. Mourinho against his ginger version and with both teams very defensive in the way they play. Tottenham need to bring in their Europa League form to the Premier League. Burnley are looking to climb further away from the relegation zone. Tottenham and Mourinho need to return to winning ways though. Tottenham won the reverse fixture 0-1.

Sheffield United vs. Liverpool

Bottom placed Sheffield United take on struggling Liverpool who have lost their last 4 and are struggling on all fronts at the moment. Two teams with the exact same form in their last 5. Funnily enough if their is a team that Sheffield United wanted to play at the moment it would probably be Liverpool. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 2-1.

Everton vs. Southampton

7th placed Everton got a massive win against Liverpool last weekend and face struggling Southampton who sit 14th in the table. Everton should win this on current form and Southampton show no proof of ending their poor run. Southampton won the reverse fixture 2-0.

La Liga MW 25

Barcelona travel to Sevilla, Atletico travel to Villarreal, and Real Madrid entertain Real Sociedad. Tough games for all teams involved at the top of the table and some gaps should open up. Atletico will want to win to keep the gap open with Real Madrid right behind them. An interesting weekend in Spain.

Serie MW 24

Lazio travel to Bologna, Juventus travel to Verona, Atalanta travel to Sampdoria, Inter entertain Genoa, Napoli take on Benevento, and Milan travel to play Roma. Milan need to find their form again because they have been poor in recent weeks while Inter are running riot at the top. With Milan playing Roma Inter could open up a bigger gap at the top.

Bundesliga MW 23

Frankfurt travel to Werder Bremen, Bayern take on Koln, Dortmund take on Arminia, Monchengladbach travel to Leipzig, Hoffenheim travel to Union Berlin, and Leverkusen entertain Freiburg. Bayern are just 2 points clear at the top but with Leipzig playing Monchengladbach a win could create a gap once again for the leaders. A better race than the last few seasons.

Ligue MW 27

PSG travel to Dijon, Monaco take on Brest, Lille take on Strasbourg, and Lyon travel to Marseille. Ligue 1 is a good race at the moment with 4 teams involved in the title race. PSG will want to bounce back after their loss last weekend while the rest will want to keep winning.
