Premier League MW 17

Everton 0 vs. 1 West Ham

In what was bound to be a close game between two good teams this season it was Moyes’s West Ham Fellaini otherwise known as Soucek who popped up to score the winner in the 86th minute. Everton drop down to 7th with the loss while West Ham remain 10th with the win but level on points with some of the teams above them. 

Man United 2 vs. 1 Aston Villa

Another game that was close and entertaining for the neutrals as Martial gave United the lead in the 40th minute. Villa had been playing well and they equalised in the 58th minute via Traore. United felt like they needed to use their trump card and opted for a penalty in the 61st minute and Fernandes stepped up to score the winner. United remain 2nd but go level on points with Liverpool and can go above them if they win their game in hand. Villa drop down to 8th with the loss. 

Tottenham 3 vs. 0 Leeds

Kane and Son scored in the 1st half while Alderweireld scored in the 2nd half and Doherty was sent off late on as Tottenham won against Leeds. Leeds provided their usual attacking entertainment but were left wide open at the back which allowed Spurs to finish them off. Tottenham climb back up to 4th while Leeds drop down to 12th with the loss. 

Crystal Palace 2 vs. 0 Sheffield United

Schlupp scored in the 4th minute while Eze scored a brilliant goal right before half time as Palace won comfortably against the Blades. Palace climb up to 14th with the win while Sheffield United stay bottom of the table, 12 points from safety. 

Brighton 3 vs. 3 Wolverhampton

Connolly scored in the 13th minute while Saiss equalised in the 19th minute to bring Wolves back into the game. Burn scored an own goal in the 34th minute to give Wolves the lead while Neves doubled the lead in the 44th minute via a penalty. Brighton got one back in the 46th minute via Maupay and a penalty while the equalised via Dunk in the 70th minute. Brighton remain 17th 3 points clear from the relegation zone while Wolves drop down to 13th with the draw. 

West Brom 0 vs. 4 Arsenal

Tierney and Saka scored in the 1st half while Lacazette scored 2 in the 2nd half to seal a comfortable win against West Brom on a snowy night. West Brom remain 19th, 6 points from safety while Arsenal climb up to 11th in the table. 

Newcastle 1 vs. 2 Leicester

Maddison and Tielemans scored in the 2nd half while Carroll got a consolation goal for Newcastle, his first for the club after 10 years. Newcastle drop down to 15th in the table while Leicester remain 3rd and now a point from the top of the table. 

Burnley vs. Fulham

The game was called off due to the Fulham squad suffering from Covid. 

Southampton 1 vs. 0 Liverpool

Ings scored in the 2nd minute for Southampton and the Saints held on for the 3 points as Liverpool only managed one shot on target during the game. That makes it 3 games without a win for Liverpool as they struggle at the top and allow the teams behind them to gain the advantage. Southampton jump up to 6th after a poor run of form as they beat the champions. 

La Liga MW 17

Sevilla drew with Real Betis 1-1, Real Madrid beat Celta Vigo 2-0, Atletico beat Alaves 1-2, Real Sociedad drew with Osasuna 1-1, Barcelona beat Huesca 0-1, and Valencia drew with Cadiz 1-1. Atletico lead La Liga by 2 points with 2 games in hand as they sit in a position of strength while Real Madrid, Sociedad, and Villarreal make up the top four. Barcelona and Sevilla sit 5th and 6th while Valencia are 17th in the table. At the moment the advantage is clearly Atletico’s. 

Serie MW 15

Inter beat Crotone 6-2, Roma beat Sampdoria 1-0, Atalanta beat Sassuolo 5-1, Lazio drew with Genoa 1-1, Napoli beat Cagliari 1-4, Milan beat Benevento 0-2, and Juventus beat Udinese 4-1. Wins for everyone bar Lazio in Serie A during the weekend as Milan stay top of the table by a point with Inter right behind them. Roma and Napoli make up the top four with Juventus 5th in the table. Atalanta sit 7th while Lazio sit 9th. 

Bundesliga MW 14

Monchengladbach beat Arminia 0-1, Leverkusen lost to Frankfurt 2-1, Schalke lost to Hertha Berlin 3-0, Leipzig beat Stuttgart 0-1, Dortmund beat Wolfsburg 2-0, while Bayern beat Mainz 5-2. Bayern return to the top of the table as they gain a 2 point lead. Leipzig move into 2nd with Leverkusen dropping down to 3rd. Dortmund move up to 4th but still behind the teams above them while Monchengladbach sit 7th. Schalke remain bottom of the table.
