Chelsea vs. Krasnodar Champions League Group Stage MD 6 Preview

Chance to rotate and rest and end the group on a high!

Chelsea welcome Kransodar to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night with Krasnodar sitting 3rd in the group and most likely heading to the Europa League ahead of Rennes regardless of the result. Krasnodar finally won a group game last week as they beat Rennes to seal that 3rd spot while Chelsea beat Sevilla. Krasnodar won their game at the weekend 5-0 to cap off a good week for them. A game with nothing at stake but a good chance to gain fitness.

Chelsea have had a brilliant week by beating Sevilla and Leeds in a positive manner and will want to continue that during this festive period. A Champions League night with 2000 fans should be a good one for Lampard and team especially with Krasnodar the team visiting. Chelsea shouldn’t take the team lightly though and we should play in our professional manner to get another win. The group itself is sealed and since head to head matters rather than goal difference in the Champions League everyone should finish where they are regardless of results. Pre match Lampard was asked about Werner and Havertz and on Werner Lampard had to say that he had no worries and knows that Werner will be a huge player for Chelsea. Werner always misses chances and has for his career it’s an area he needs to improve on but he will. On Havertz Lampard said that he has had some problems recovering from Covid but he is not worried at all and actually he believes that Havertz will be one of the best players in the world. So comments to silence any doubters in the fanbase, and the fact there are already doubters is shameful.

Chelsea Team Preview

From having a fully fit squad to having Ziyech and CHO out with hamstring injuries just shows why you need a big squad. Lampard confirmed that Kepa will start in goal while I expect that the back four will be rotated. Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, and Emerson should start at the back. Jorginho, Gilmour and Havertz should start in the midfield while Pulisic, Tammy and Werner should start up front with both Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi out. I do feel that Anjorin, and Lawrence will be available as subs and maybe one of them could start the game. A chance to rest and recover and finish the game off early so we can make subs.

Krasnodar Team Preview

Krasnodar have some big players back from injury for them with players like Ramirez, and Martynovich back in defence. Gazinskiy is back in the midfield with Wamberto, Cabella, and Claesson back up front as well. Several players are back and they will want to at the very least give Chelsea a fight.

Starting XI Prediction

Chelsea have topped the group while Krasnodar have sealed 3rd and so this should be a nice glorified friendly for all purposes. The best thing Chelsea can get out of this game is for players like Havertz and Werner to regain some confidence and form while the likes of Gilmour get game time. Hopefully we finish our chances early and are able to make subs to bring on Anjorin and Lawrence. COME ON CHELSEA!!!
