Weekend of some surprise results!

Premier League MW 10

Crystal Palace 0 vs. 2 Newcastle

After what was a very close game Newcastle scored in the final 2 minutes as Wilson, and Joelinton both scored to seal the 3 points. Palace drop down to 15th with the loss while Newcastle climb up to 13th in the table. 

Brighton 1 vs. 1 Liverpool

The 1st half was quite close as Liverpool failed to break Brighton down and Brighton actually posed a threat to Liverpool. Jota gave Liverpool the lead in the 60th minute but Brighton had been the better team. Gross then equalised in the 93rd minute from the penalty spot for what in today’s game with VAR is a penalty and there was contact on Danny Welbeck. Brighton sit 16th in the table while Liverpool remain 2nd level on points with Spurs who are top. 

Man City 5 vs. 0 Burnley

Burnley suffered what is now their customary loss to City at the Etihad by 5 goals as Mahrez scored a hattrick and Mendy along with Torres added the rest. City climb into 11th in the table while Burnley drop down to 19th in the table with the loss. 

Everton 0 vs. 1 Leeds

This was always going to be an intriguing game but it only involved a single goal as Raphinha scored in the 79th minute to seal the win for Leeds. Everton drop down to 8th with the loss while Leeds move into 12th with the 3 points. 

West Brom 1 vs. 0 Sheffield United

One of these teams was bound to win as both of them were searching for their first win of the season. West Brom became that teams as Gallagher scored in the 13th minute to seal the win for West Brom. West Brom move into 18th with the win while Sheffield remain bottom of the table and now the only team which hasn’t won this season. 

Southampton 2 vs. 3 Man United

Bednarek and Ward-Prowse scored in the 1st half to give Southampton what seemed like a comfortable lead. Hassenhutl and team decided they wanted more and that played into United’s hands in the 2nd half as Cavani came off the bench and changed the game. Fernandes got one back in the 60th minute and then Cavani equalised in the 74th minute before scoring the winner in extra time. Southampton drop into 6th with the loss while United move up one place into 9th. 

Arsenal 1 vs. 2 Wolverhampton

A game that Arteta was under pressure to win and he didn’t. The game suffered a big problem when Luiz and Jimenez’s head’s collided in the early minutes. Luiz continued until half time although he was bleeding throughout and really shouldn’t have been on the pitch. Jimenez was unconscious and we later found out that he has suffered a fractured skull although he is talking now and feeling comfortable, all the best to him. Neto gave Wolves the lead in the 27th minute but Gabriel equalised for Arsenal 3 minutes later. Podence then scored in the 42nd minute to restore Wolves lead. Wolves were comfortable in the 2nd half and saw out the game for 3 points. Arsenal drop down to 14th while Wolves move up into 7th. 

Leicester 1 vs. 2 Fulham

In what was a shock result Fulham got their 2nd win of the season against Leicester in a very good performance. Lookman scored in the 30th minute and Cavaleiro got one more int he 38th minute via a penalty. Barnes got one back for Leicester in the 86th minute but Fulham held on for the 3 points. Leicester remain 4th with the loss while Fulham climb out of the relegation zone and into 17th with the win. 

West Ham 2 vs. 1 Aston Villa

Ogbonna scored in the 2nd minute to give West Ham the lead but Grealish equalised in the 25th minute for Villa. Bowen then scored in the 46th minute to restore West Ham’s lead. Villa were denied a penalty late on and had a goal disallowed as well in what was a VAR ridden end to the game. West Ham though got the luck and 3 points as they move into 5th with the win while Villa drop down to 10th with the loss. 

La Liga MW 11

Atletico beat Valencia 0-1, Sevilla beat Huesca 0-1, Real Madrid lost to Alaves 1-2, Barcelona beat Osasuna 4-0, and Real Sociedad drew with Villarreal 1-1. Real Sociedad remain a point clear at the top of the table while Atletico, Villarreal, and Real Madrid make up the top four. Madrid are now 7 points from the top of the table and lost Hazard to another hamstring injury as things go from bad to worse. Sevilla sit 5th while Barcelona move up to 7th, Valencia sit 14th. 

Serie MW 9

Inter beat Sassuolo 0-3, Juventus drew with Benevento 1-1, Verona beat Atalanta 0-2, Udinese beat Lazio 1-3, Milan beat Fiorentina 2-0, and Napoli beat Roma 4-0. A good weekend of football for the city of Milan and Napoli as the latter remembered Diego Maradona. Milan sit 5 points clear at the top of the table now with Inter, Sassuolo, and Juventus making up the top four. Napoli sit 5th while Roma sit 6th. Atalanta and Lazio are 8th and 9th respectively. Serie A is very interesting this season and it’s good to see a resurgent AC Milan.

Bundesliga MW 9

Koln beat Dortmund 1-2, Leipzig beat Arminia 2-1, Bayern beat Stuttgart 1-3, Monchengladbach beat Schalke 4-1, and Leverkusen drew with Hertha Berlin 0-0. Bayern remain top of the league by 2 points with Leipzig, Leverkusen, and Dortmund making up the top four. Monchengladbach sit 7th while Schalke remain winless this season. The chasing pack still chase Bayern Munich as they remain the team to beat. 

Ligue MW 12

Rennes drew with Strasbourg 1-1, Marseille beat Nantes 3-1, PSG drew with Bordeaux 2-2, Lyon beat Reims 3-0, Monaco beat Nimes 3-0, and Lille drew with St.Etienne 1-1. PSG remain top of the table with a 2 point lead while Lille, Lyon and Monaco make up the top four. Marseille sit 6th with the top 6 only separated by 2 points as the French teams finally kick into gear this season.
