Weekend Football Preview

Highly entertaining weekend expected!

Premier League MW 8

Brighton vs. Burnley

16th vs. 20th as Brighton entertain Burnley. Brighton have only 1 win to their name while Burnley are still searching for their first win of the season. One has to expect that one of these teams will leave this game with a win because they both need it.

Southampton vs. Newcastle

5th placed Southampton take on 11th placed Newcastle with both teams having won last weekend. Southampton are on a brilliant run at the moment having won 4 of their last 5 and drawn the other while Newcastle managed to win their first game in 3 last weekend. This should be a close game but Southampton will be looking at another win.

Everton vs. Man United

4th vs. 15th as Everton take on United. Ancelotti and co have lost their last 2 games after a blazing start to the season and will be hoping to head into the international break with 3 points. This time last week United were flying high having beaten Leipzig but a loss to Arsenal and Istanbul during this week has changed the narrative. Massive pressure is their on Ole to win because it could lead to a sack over the break if the result is anything other than that. Big game.

Crystal Palace vs. Leeds

13th placed Palace take on 12th placed Leeds with both teams level on points and on similar form having lost last weekend. This should be a close game between two teams who have been fairly decent this season. Hodgson vs. Bielsa should be an interesting game.

West Ham vs. Fulham

14th vs. 17th as West Ham welcome Fulham for a London derby. West Ham lost last weekend which ended a decent run of form while Fulham finally managed their first win of the season against West Brom. It will be an interesting game but I expect West Ham to leave with 3 points.

West Brom vs. Tottenham

West Brom are still seeking their first win of the season as they take on Tottenham who sit 3rd in the table only 2 points from the top. Tottenham are in really good form and West Brom should pose no real threat to stop Mourinho from winning another game.

Leicester vs. Wolverhampton

2nd vs. 6th as Leicester take on Wolves. The two teams have had brilliant starts to the season once again but one of them will end up dropping points. This should be a very interesting game.

Man City vs. Liverpool

The game of the weekend comes to us from the Etihad as 10th placed Man City take on leaders Liverpool. The two teams have been in good form and go into this game with run of wins behind them. City for me look a more solid outfit especially at the back and it could be a high scoring game.

Arsenal vs. Aston Villa

9th placed Arsenal take on 8th placed Villa with both teams in similar form overall. Arsenal had a big win against United last weekend although United didn’t really offer much in return. Villa have been in good form but two successive losses means that they will want to bounce back with a win. Another game to keep an eye on.

La Liga MW 9

Barcelona entertain Real Betis, Sevilla welcome Osasuna, Atletico welcome Cadiz, and Real Madrid travel to Valencia. Barcelona and Sevilla need to start racking up some points while Real Madrid will look to continue to bounce back with another win.

Serie MW 7

Lazio welcome Juventus, Roma travel to Genoa, Atalanta welcome Inter, Napoli travel to Bologna, and Milan entertain Verona. Some very interesting games in Italy this weekend. Inter will want to bounce back from a poor week to end this period with a high while the rest are playing catch up to Milan who are also looking to bounce back from a midweek defeat to Lille.

Bundesliga MW 7

Leipzig entertain Freiburg, Schalke travel to Mainz, Leverkusen entertain Monchengladbach and Dortmund welcome Bayern in the big game of the weekend. 4 of the top 5 all face each other this weekend while Leipzig could benefit if results go their way. An interesting weekend in German football.

Ligue MW 10

Marseille travel to Strasbourg, PSG welcome Rennes, Lille travel to Brest, Monaco take on Nice and Lyon take on St.Etienne. Ligue 1 is turning into PSG vs the rest once again and the teams around them need to put in some consistent form to challenge them.
