Weekend Football Preview

Races all over Europe!

Premier League MW 33

Norwich vs. Brighton

Bottom placed Norwich take on 15th placed Brighton as the Seagulls look to bounce back from their loss against United while Norwich still search for a win. Brighton played well against United and Norwich can’t seem to defend so this should be an away win. Brighton beat Norwich 2-0 in the reverse fixture.

Leicester vs. Crystal Palace

12th placed Palace travel to play 3rd placed Leicester with the Foxes struggling at the moment. Palace themselves have not been that great but Leicester are there to be beaten at the moment. The home team need to start winning otherwise they could find themselves 6th by the end of the weekend. Leicester beat Palace 0-2 in the reverse fixture.

Man United vs. Bournemouth

19th placed Bournemouth travel to Manchester to play 5th placed United who are looking to break into the top four this weekend. United have been in great form and Bournemouth have struggled and all I can see is a United win. Bournemouth can take some encouragement from the way West Ham beat Chelsea but the Cherries will have to be resilient. Bournemouth won the reverse fixture 1-0.

Wolverhampton vs. Arsenal

Wolves are another team looking to enter the top four this weekend as they take on Arsenal who sit 8th and are aiming for the Europa League. Wolves have been dominant since the return of football while Arsenal have been all over the place. This should be a fun game but the odds do favour Wolves. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

Burnley vs. Sheffield United

The Blades got a massive win against Tottenham as they sit 7th and take on Burnley who are 10th and aiming for the Europa League themselves. Two defensive teams but one teams defence will have to give way in what could easily be a draw. Sheffield United won the reverse fixture 3-0.

Newcastle vs. West Ham

13th placed Newcastle take on 16th placed West Ham with both teams having won during the week. Newcastle especially seem in good form but West Ham were resilient against Chelsea. This game could go either way but I expect Newcastle to win. Newcastle won the reverse fixture 2-3.

Liverpool vs. Aston Villa

Liverpool will be playing their first home game since being crowned Champions and will be hoping to bounce back from their dismal 4-0 loss to City during the week. 18th placed Villa are 1 point from safety but I don’t see them getting anything out of the game especially after City won. Villa will hope the hangover for Liverpool stretches into their game. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 1-2.

Southampton vs. Man City

Southampton sit 14th as they take on City who will be flying high after their win against Liverpool. Neither team is in danger of anything and neither team is aiming for anything so this should be an open game but City will probably win. City won the reverse fixture 2-1.

Tottenham vs. Everton

A Europa League clash as Everton look to inch towards Europe while Tottenham look to bounce back from their loss against Sheffield United. Based on form Everton are the better team and I can’t see Mourinho’s problems going away until he buys some players. This should be a fun game which could go either way but I have a feeling Everton might take the 3 points. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

La Liga MW 34

Atletico Madrid vs. Mallorca

Atletico remain unbeaten post lockdown as they sit 3rd and take on 18th placed Mallorca who need wins to aim for safety. Mallorca did well to win during the week but Atletico should be a step too far. Atletico won the reverse fixture 0-2.

Celta Vigo vs. Real Betis

Betis sit 13th but are only 3 clear of Celta who are 17th in the table in what should be an interesting game. Neither team is playing particularly well and so this should be a scrappy affair. Betis won the reverse fixture 2-1.

Valladolid vs. Alaves

14th vs. 15th with both teams just trying to keep distance from the relegation zone which should remain fairly large if Mallorca lose. Neither team is great at the moment and so it should be an open game. Alaves won the reverse fixture 3-0.

Granada vs. Valencia

9th vs. 10th in a top of the table clash as Granada are looking to reach Europa League football while Valencia want to remain a distant challenger. This should be an interesting game that can go either way. Valencia won the reverse fixture 2-0.

Bilbao vs. Real Madrid

8th placed Bilbao take on leaders Real Madrid in what should be a fun game. Madrid have been nicking wins even in their tougher games and so they will be favourites but Bilbao will want to cause an upset. The reverse fixture was a goalless draw.

Espanyol vs. Leganes

20th vs. 19th in a bottom of the table clash one would think that the losing team should assume that they are going to get relegated as these two try to hold on to some hope of survival. Leganes won the reverse fixture 2-0.

Osasuna vs. Getafe

11th placed Osasuna take on 6th placed Getafe with the away team really struggling to find their pre lockdown form. Osasuna have been decent and so this should be a challenge for Getafe although they should win. The reverse fixture was a goalless draw.

Villarreal vs. Barcelona

It doesn’t get easier for 2nd placed Barcelona as they travel to play 5th placed Villarreal win what will be a tough game. Villarreal are aiming for a Champions League spot while Barcelona have been far from great in their recent games. This should be an open one that can go either way. Barcelona won the reverse fixture 2-1.

Levante vs. Real Sociedad

12th placed Levante take on 7th placed Real Sociedad who finally managed a win during the week. Levante have been decent but Sociedad have more than enough quality to get the win. Levante won the reverse fixture 1-2.

Sevilla vs. Eibar

4th placed Sevilla take on 16th placed Eibar in what should be a comfortable win for the home team. Eibar won the reverse fixture 3-2.

Serie MW 30

Juventus vs. Torino

Derby time in Turin as Juventus take on 13th placed Torino. Juventus seem to have finally began to click under Sarri and in current form Torino stand no chance. Juventus won the reverse fixture 0-1.

Sassuolo vs. Lecce

12th placed Sassuolo take on 18th placed Lecce as the away team tries to escape relegation. Sassuolo seem to have found form in recent weeks and so this should be a win for the home team. The reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw.

Lazio vs. AC Milan

2nd placed Lazio take on 7th placed Milan in what should be an entertaining game to watch although Lazio are the team in better form. Neither team can afford to drop points though and so the result could go either way. Lazio won the reverse fixture 1-2.

Inter Milan vs. Bologna

3rd placed Inter take on 11th placed Bologna in what should be a tougher game than the one against Brescia but Inter should still manage the 3 points. Inter won the reverse fixture 1-2.

Sampdoria vs. SPAL

16th vs. 19th with 10 points separating the two sides as SPAL were perhaps unlucky not to get three points during the week while Sampdoria relied on penalties. Sampdoria have the quality to get three points and should. Sampdoria won the reverse fixture 0-1.

Cagliari vs. Atalanta

4th placed Atalanta take on 9th placed Cagliari in what should a straight forward away win. Atalanta have been too good this season and should get a couple of goals. Cagliari won the reverse fixture 0-2.

Brescia vs. Verona

20th placed Brescia take on 8th placed Verona in what should be 3 easy points for the away team as the home team stare at relegation. Verona won the reverse fixture 2-1.

Udinese vs. Genoa

15th vs. 17th with Genoa needing the win to stay away from the relegation zone while Udinese are comfortably clear at the moment. An interesting game that can go either way. Udinese won the reverse fixture 1-3.

Parma vs. Fiorentina

10th placed Parma take on 14th placed Fiorentina in a bit of a nothing game. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

Napoli vs. AS Roma

6th vs 5th with both teams fighting it out for the Europa League while other teams chase them. A win for AS Roma would open up a comfortable gap but a win for Napoli would make the race interesting. A big game for both teams. Roma won the reverse fixture 2-1.

DFB Pokal Final

Bayer Leverkusen vs. Bayern Munich

Leverkusen beat Saarbrucken and Bayern beat Frankfurt as these two teams go head to head in the final. Bayern are can complete the domestic double by winning this game while Leverkusen will want to finish the season on a high after missing out on Champions League football. Bayern are the clear favourites but Leverkusen have the quality to make this game a fun one to watch.
