Down to the wire!
Galatasaray 1 vs. 1 Club Brugge
Buyuk scored an early goal for Galatasaray to give the home team a lead and it looked like they would be heading for three vital points but Diatta scored an equaliser in the 92nd minute for Club Brugge. It was a must win game for either team and a draw means that these two will be fighting it out for a Europa League place on the final day. As it stands Club Brugge are 3rd and heading to the Europa being a point ahead of Galatasaray.
Real Madrid 2 vs. 2 Paris Saint Germain
Real Madrid played brilliantly in this game as Hazard ran riot until he was subbed with an injury around 70 minute mark. Benzema opened the scoring for Real in the 17th minute but could not score more as Navas made some good saves and kept Real Madrid at bay. Benzema then scored his 2nd in the 79th minute as he continued his great form and it looked like Real Madrid were heading for a big win. Neymar though had come on in the 2nd half and was causing problems for the Spanish side and Mbappe got one back in the 81st minute for PSG. Sarabia then equalised for PSG two minutes later and Real Madrid once again drew at home. Results elsewhere though meant that Real Madrid have managed to qualify for the knockout stages but will finish 2nd while PSG will finish 1st.
Tottenham 4 vs. 2 Olympiacos
Mourinho’s 2nd game in charge of Spurs was even more entertaining than the first as a 2nd half fight back meant that the Londoners sealed three points. El-Arabi scored in the 6th minute and Semedo in the 19th as Mourinho too of Dier and brought on Eriksen in the 1st half. Alli scored a goal for Spurs right before half time to give Mourinho an easier pep talk at the break. Kane then scored in the 50th minute to equalise and Aurier put Spurs in the lead in the 73rd minute. Kane got his 2nd in the 77th minute as Spurs pulled off a brilliant comeback. Tottenham sealed qualification with the win and will finish 2nd in the group while Olympiacos can still reach the Europa League but they need to win their last game to stand a chance.
Red Star Belgrade 0 vs. 6 Bayern Munich
Bayern ran riot in Belgrade as Goretzka got the solitary 1st half goal in the 14th minute. Lewandowski decided to take the game into his own hands and scored 4 goals in 14 minutes in the 2nd half to make it 0-5 by the 70th minute. Tolisso then scored in the 89th minute to clear any doubts of a comeback. Bayern make it 5 out of 5 and lead the table as they will finish 1st now while Red Star are 3rd and 2 points ahead of Olympiacos but are not guaranteed a Europa League place yet.
Man City 1 vs. 1 Shakhtar Donetsk
City have not been their imperious selves this season and a cagey 1st half saw goals in the 2nd. Gundogan gave City the lead in the 56th minute but Shakhtar replied back with a goal in the 69th minute via Solomon. Neither team could get the winner though as the points were shared. City seal the top spot and progression to the knockout stages while Shakhter for now are 2nd but only a point ahead of Dinamo and 2 points ahead of Atalanta with nothing guaranteed yet.
Atalanta 2 vs. 0 Dinamo Zagreb
Atalanta got a massive win to throw the group wide open as Muriel scored a 1st half penalty and Gomes scored in the 47th minute to seal the three points. Atalanta had to win this game and while they are still bottom of the table they are only 2 points behind Shakhtar who are 2nd. Dinamo are also still in contention for both the 2nd and Europa League spot as the race will go to the final day.
Lokomotiv Moskva 0 vs. 2 Bayer Leverkusen
Rifat scored an own goal to give Leverkusen the lead in the 11th minute and Bender doubled the lead in the 2nd half as Bayer made it 2 wins in a row and a massive move in the right direction. Lokomotiv are now 3 points behind in 4th and while they can still make the Europa League they would have to win their final game and hope Bayer lost heavily. Leverkusen are now only a point behind Atletico who are 2nd and can qualify for the next round if they win and Atletico lose or draw on the final day. Europa League though is at least guaranteed for the Germans.
Juventus 1 vs. 0 Atletico Madrid
Dybala scored the solitary goal of the game right before half time as he curled in a free kick from an almost 90 degree angle to beat Oblak. Juventus remain the only unbeaten team in Europe as they sealed top spot and progression while Atletico now have to win on the final day to stand a chance although if they lost and Bayer lost then they would also qualify but a win would keep things in their hands.
Liverpool 1 vs. 1 Napoli
Mertens scored in the 21st minute to give Napoli the lead but Liverpool once again scraped a point through Lovren in the 65th minute. Liverpool have not been great this season but they have scraped through and fought hard on several occasions. The group though is still wide open. Liverpool need to beat Salzburg on the final day to qualify while a win would be enough for Napoli as qualification remains in their own hands.
Genk 1 vs. 4 Red Bull Salzburg
Daka, and Minamino scored in the final few minutes of the 1st half to give Red Bull a 2 goal lead. Hwang then scored in the 69th minute to make the lead to 3 while Samatta got a consolation goal for Genk in the 85th minute. Haland then scored in the 87th minute to end matters on Salzburg’s terms. Genk are out of Europe now while Red Bull can still very well make the knockout stages but will have to beat Liverpool.
Barcelona 3 vs. 1 Borussia Dortmund
Suarez and Messi scored in the 1st half while Griezmann added a 3rd in the 2nd half to give Barcelona comfortable lead. Sancho got a consolation goal in the 77th minute but it was too little too late. Barcelona will finish top of the group and reach the knockout stages while Dortmund are now 3rd and have to beat Slavia Praha on the final day while hoping Inter drop points.
Slavia Praha 1 vs. 3 Inter Milan
Martinez gave Inter the lead in the 19th minute but Soucek scored an equaliser via a penalty in the 37th minute. The game was cagey until the final 10 minutes when Lukaku restored the lead in the 81st minute and Martinez scored a 3rd in the 88th minute. Inter move into 2nd but have to beat Barcelona and hope Dortmund drop points on the final days. Slavia will be heading out of Europe.
Zenit 2 vs. 0 Olympique Lyonnais
Dzyuba, and Ozdoyev scored right before each half ended to give Zenit a hard fought win against Lyon. The win throws the group wide open as the teams are now level on points and goal difference going into the final match day. These teams can still qualify and Leipzig can also still drop into the Europa League spot with everything open.
Red Bull Leipzig 2 vs. 2 Benfica
Pizzi scored in the 20th minute to give Benfica the lead and Vinicius scored a 2nd in the 59th minute to make it 0-2. Benfica looked like they were heading for an important win but Forsberg scored in the 90th minute to give Leipzig hope and then scored again the 96th minute to seal the comeback. Leipzig have not guaranteed qualification though but should reach the next stage with a win or a draw. Benfica could mathematically reach the Europa League or the Round of 16 but they would need both Zenit and Lyon to loose and a massive swing in goal difference.
Lille 0 vs. 2 Ajax
Ziyech and Promes scored in either half to give Ajax a comfortable win against Lille in France. Lille are now heading out of Europe while Ajax lead the group by 2 points with qualification not guaranteed as they can still finish in the Europa League if results do not go their way. A win or a draw will be enough for Ajax though on the final day.
