Weekend Football Preview

Final day!

Premier League MW 38

Brighton vs. Man City

City travel to Brighton were one of the massive games of the weekend. A win means that City become champions and anything else could put that in danger. Brighton are decent at home and have survived relegation and so they will hope to send their fans off in a positive way. City should be able to do it but with Liverpool playing at the same time it is going to be interesting what happens. City beat Brighton 2-0 in the reverse fixture.

Burnley vs. Arsenal

Arsenal can mathematically make the top four if they beat Burnley by 4 goals and then Tottenham lost to Everton by four goals. In all likelihood Arsenal wont make the top four but after this weeks football you never know. Burnley having nothing to play for, they are safe for next season but will want to send their fans off with a good memory. Arsenal beat Burnley 3-1 in the reverse fixture.

Crystal Palace vs. Bournemouth

12th vs. 13th as the teams look to see who finishes above the other. Palace and Bournemouth are both safe and so Palace will be looking to end their season on a high but Bournemouth are a team in good form and so this could be a cagey game. Bournemouth beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

Fulham vs. Newcastle

Farewell game for Fulham as they welcome 14th placed Newcastle. Nothing to play for for either team but Fulham will hope to say farewell to the Premier League with a win. The reverse fixture was a 0-0 draw.

Liverpool vs. Wolverhampton

Massive game no 2 comes to us from Liverpool as top 6 killers Wolves visit them looking to finish any party that might start. Liverpool have to win the game and hope that City drop points while if Wolves even manage a point it will mean curtains on Liverpool’s title race. It should be a great game. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 0-2.

Man United vs. Cardiff City

United welcome relegated Cardiff for a friendly basically as neither team has anything to fight for. Cardiff will hope to end their season on a high and United have been poor recently. United need a win to appease the fans and a loss or dropped points at Cardiff would bring serious doubt over the club. Man United won the reverse fixture 1-5.

Southampton vs. Huddersfield

A game of no consequence, Southampton are safe Huddersfield are relegated and both teams will want to end their seasons on a positive note. Southampton won the reverse fixture 1-3.

Tottenham vs. Everton

Everton visit Champions League finalists Tottenham for their final game of the season. Tottenham are flying high in Europe but have been poor at home while Everton are in great form going into this fixture. Tottenham would have to lose by 4 goals or more and Arsenal would have to score at least four to knock Tottenham out of the top four and that probably won’t happen. A close game to end the season. Tottenham won the reverse fixture 2-6.

Watford vs. West Ham

A fight for a top ten finish. A Watford point or more would mean that Watford finish in the top 10 while if West Ham win then they will finish in the top 10. Watford won the reverse fixture 0-2.

La Liga MW 37

The penultimate weekend of La Liga sees Barcelona welcome Getafe, Valencia take on Alaves, Real Madrid travel to Real Sociedad, and Atletico take on Sevilla. Barcelona, Atletico and Real will finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The race for 4th is close with Getafe 3 points clear but Valencia and Sevilla have a chance.

Serie MW 36

Atalanta welcome Genoa, Lazio travel to Cagliari, Milan travel to Fiorentina, Napoli travel to SPAL, Roma take on Juventus, and Inter take on Chievo. Juventus and Napoli are 1st and 2nd but 3rd and 4th are up for grabs with Inter, Atalanta, Milan, Roma, Torino and Lazio all fighting for a place.

Bundesliga MW 33

The penultimate weekend in Germany as Leverkusen take on Schalke, Hoffenheim take on Werder Bremen, Stuttgart take on Wolfsburg, Dortmund welcome Dusseldorf, Monchengladbach travel to Nurnberg, Bayern travel to Leipzig, and Frankfurt take on Mainz. Bayern have a 4 point lead at the top and Dortmund would have to win and Bayern to lose to give Dortmund some hope. Leipzig are assured a 3rd place finish at least. Frankfurt, Leverkusen, Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg, and Hoffenheim fight it out for 4th.

Ligue MW 36

PSG travel to Angers, Monaco travel to Nimes, Lille take on Bordeaux, and Marseille take on Lyon. PSG, Lille, Lyon, and St.Etienne is the top four and that is how it should finish. Monaco are 3 points from the relegation zone and have to win their game.
