Eintracht Frankfurt 1 vs. 1 Chelsea Europa League Semi-Final 1st Leg Review

An away goal in the bag.

Chelsea play Frankfurt in Frankfurt for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final. The lineup was as predicted although Hazard was kept on the bench and Willian started in the lineup. From the get go Frankfurt piled on the pressure and the stunning atmosphere only seemed to spur the players on. Frankfurt closed down the Chelsea players and created several chances as Chelsea held on. Jovic then gave Frankfurt the lead in the 23rd minute via a brilliantly placed header. Chelsea held on but slowly began to grow into the game in the final 10 minutes, Pedro then scored the equaliser in the 45th minute. The 2nd half started with Chelsea in full flow as we closed down Frankfurt and created several chances but just seemed to have forgot our finishing boots at home. The game then petered out to a 1-1 draw but Chelsea can take their away goal to London and a solid performance should be enough to see Chelsea through to the final.

Player wise the standout performer was Loftus-Cheek, he was amazing he made 9 dribbles created several chances and even got an assist for Pedro’s goal. RLC should have easily got a goal or two as well but his finishing let him down. If RLC’s back stays fit then Ruben can be a massive figure in the Chelsea lineup for many more years to come. Jorginho was also standout in the 2nd half and dictated play brilliantly while also making several tackles as well. Chelsea now travel take on Watford in our final home game of the Premier League season as we continue to push for a top four finish. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!
