Weekend Football Preview

The race continues!

Premier League MW 36

Liverpool vs. Huddersfield

Liverpool start the weekend off with a game on Friday against bottom placed Huddersfield. Liverpool are now firmly in 2nd place and all they can do is win their remaining games and hope City drop points.

Tottenham vs. West Ham

3rd placed Tottenham take on 11th placed West Ham in a London derby. Tottenham most likely will finish 3rd but West Ham have a surprise in them and could make it difficult for Spurs. Spurs needed a miracle goal to get them past Brighton and if the Hammers can hold on they could manage a point or more against Tottenham.

Crystal Palace vs. Everton

12th vs. 9th a firm mid table battle between the two sides. Palace beat Arsenal and Everton beat United last week and so both teams go into this game on a high. Everton have more quality around the pitch but Palace are talented up front and so this game should be a close one. Everton are still pushing for a 7th place finish and so the stakes are slightly higher for them.

Fulham vs. Cardiff City

19th vs. 18th. These teams were promoted from the Championship this season but this season has not gone their way. Fulham showed a lot of promise but faltered and now are heading back to the Championship. Cardiff are 3 points behind Brighton as they could still manage to survive the relegation zone but this is a must win game. Fulham can dent Cardiff’s chances having been on a winning run recently but Cardiff have it all to fight for.

Southampton vs. Bournemouth

16th vs. 14th. Southampton entertain Bournemouth with neither team really fighting for anything this season. The teams are safe from the relegation zone and now it is all about ending the season on a high and preparing for next season. Evenly matched teams and this should be an evenly matched game.

Watford vs. Wolverhampton

8th vs. 7th and a replay of the FA Cup semi-final as the best of the rest go head to head. A point separates the two teams as they fight it out to see who finishes ahead. This should be a very close game and a fun one to watch.

Brighton vs. Newcastle

17th vs. 13th as Brighton take on Newcastle. Brighton are 3 points ahead of the relegation zone and this is a must win game for them. Brighton cannot afford to drop any points while Newcastle don’t have much to play for but could have a massive say in the seasons remaining stories. Brighton are strong at home they have to tap into that energy now.

Leicester vs. Arsenal

High stakes Sunday starts off with Arsenal’s trip to Leicester. Arsenal have lost their last two games and have been abysmal away from home, a loss at Leicester would create serious doubts for their top four hopes. Leicester are seeking a win in two as they hope to dent Arsenal’s chances at the top four and maybe finish 7th.

Burnley vs. Man City

Man City travel to Burnley who managed a great point against Chelsea last weekend. Burnley have been great in the 2nd half of the season and could play a major part in the narrative of the season on Sunday. All City need to do is win their remaining games and they will be champions but it all depends on what Burnley want. Burnley are 15th and have a chance to go up to 11th with a win and the higher you finish the more money you get. A great game to focus on.

La Liga MW 34

Atletico entertain Valladolid, Barcelona welcome Levante, and Real travel to Rayo Vallecano. Barcelona should seal the title with a win but if Atletico win they could have to wait another week. The only other race is the race for the top four.

Serie MW 34

Roma take on Cagliari, Inter take on Juventus, Napoli travel to Frosinone, and Milan are away at Torino. Juventus have sealed the title, Napoli should finish 2nd, Inter for now are comfortably 3rd. The race for 4th is intense though with Milan, Roma, Atalanta, Torino and Lazio all having a chance.

Bundesliga MW 31

Leipzig welcome Salzburg, Frankfurt welcome Hertha Berlin, Dortmund welcome Schalke in a derby, Monchengladbach travel to Stuttgart, Hoffenheim play Wolfsburg, and Bayern travel to Nurnberg. The title race is still on in Germany with a point separating Bayern and Dortmund, Leipzig are comfortably 3rd while Hoffenheim, Monchengladbach, and Frankfurt are fighting it out for 4th.

Ligue MW 34

Lyon travel to Bordeaux, Lille entertain Nimes, Marseille welcome Nantes, PSG travel to Montpellier, and Monaco travel to Rennes. PSG have sealed the title for some time, for now Lille are comfortably in 2nd, Lyon and St.Etienne are fighting it our for 3rd and 4th but Marseille and Montpellier are also involved in the battle for 4th.
