Premier League MW 31

Bournemouth 2 vs. 2 Newcastle

Rondon gave Newcastle the lead right before half time but Bournemouth restored parity in the 48th minute via Joshua King. King then gave Bournemouth the lead via the penalty spot in the 81st minute and it looked like Bournemouth were heading for 3 crucial points. Ritchie had other plans in mind and his goal in the 94th minute sealed a point for Newcastle. Bournemouth and Newcastle both remain 12 and 13th. 

Burnley 1 vs. 2 Leicester

Rodgers was seeking his second win but things got off to a rocky start for Leicester as Maguire was sent off in the 4th minute. Maddison still managed to give Leicester the lead in the 33rd minute but McNeil equalised for Burnley in the 38th minute. As the game was heading for a draw Wes Morgan popped up to seal the three points for Leicester. Burnley remain 17th but risk getting dropped into the relegation zone while Leicester remain 10th but within 3 points of 8th. 

West Ham 4 vs. 3 Huddersfield

The game of the weekend as West Ham staged a brilliant comeback in the 2nd half. Noble gave West Ham the lead in the 15th minute via the penalty spot but Bacuna equalised for Huddersfield in the 17th minute. Karlan Grant then scored in the 30th and 65th minute to make 1-3 in Huddersfield’s favour. Ogbonna then scored in the 75th minute to give West Ham hope and Chicharito scored a double in the 84th and 91st minute to seal a victory for the Hammers. Huddersfield were so close but remain bottom of the table while West Ham remain 9th. 

Fulham 1 vs. 2 Liverpool

Liverpool were looking to head back to the top but it wasn’t smooth sailing. Mane gave Liverpool the lead in the 26th minute but Babel equalised for Fulham in the 76th minute as it looked like Liverpool would slip up again. Milner though converted from the spot in the 81st minute to just about manage the three points for Klopp. Fulham remain 19th while Liverpool head back to the top having played 1 game more than City. 

FA Cup Quarter-Finals

Watford 2 vs. 1 Crystal Palace

Capoue gave Watford the lead in this feisty London Derby but Batshuayi equalised for the Eagles in the second half as they began to grow into the game. Gray then came of the bench to score the winner as Watford headed into the semi-finals of this season’s FA Cup. 

Swansea City 2 vs. 3 Man City

Grimes and Celina scored in the within 30 minutes to give Swansea a remarkable 2-0 lead against City. Swansea were only able to hold on till the 69th minute as Bernardo Silva scored in controversial fashion to give City hope. Nordfeldt then scored an own goal and Aguero again scored in controversial circumstances in the 88th minute to keep City’s quadruple hopes alive however unfairly. 

Wolverhampton 2 vs. 0 Man United

United followed up their defeat to Arsenal last weekend with a defeat to top 6 killers Wolves this weekend. Jimenez and Jota scored in the 2nd half once again to seal progression to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Are the wheels following off of Ole’s car? Maybe, but Chelsea’s 2-0 loss against Everton would have provided some consolation to the United fans. 

Millwall 2 (4) vs. (5) 2 Brighton

All the goals came in the 2nd half as Pearce, and O’Brien scored in the 70th and 79th minute to give Millwall a dominant 2-0 lead going into the final 10 minutes. Brighton did not give up and Locadia and March scored in the 88th and 95th minute to take the game to extra time for the Seagulls. Ferguson was sent off for Millwall in the 119th minute and Brighton won the ensuing penalty shootout 5-4 to reach the semi-finals. 

La Liga MW 28

Zidane won his first game back as Real Madrid beat Celta Vigo 2-0, Atletico lost to Bilbao 2-0, Sevilla beat Espanyol 0-1, and Barcelona thrashed Betis 1-4 thanks to a Messi hattrick. Barcelona are now 10 points clear of Atletico while Real are two points behind their local rivals. Getafe remain 4th.

Serie MW 28

SPAL beat Roma 2-1, Genoa beat Juventus 2-0 as they became the first team to beat Juventus in the league this season, Napoli beat Udinese 4-2 in a close game, and Inter beat Milan 2-3 in a fiery derby. Juventus see their lead cut to 15 points as Napoli remain 2nd, Inter move back into 3rd 2 points ahead of Milan who move back to 4th. 

Bundesliga MW 26

Monchengladbach drew with Freiburg 1-1, Leipzig beat Schalke 0-1, Hoffenheim drew with Stuttgart 1-1, Dortmund beat Berlin 2-3 in a massive game for them, Frankfurt beat Nurnberg 1-0, and Bayern thrashed Mainz 6-0 to keep ahead of Dortmund. Bayern and Dortmund remain separated by goal difference while Leipzig and Monchengladbach remain 3rd and 4th. 

Ligue MW 29

Monaco beat Lille 0-1 for what was a massive three points, Lyon beat Montpellier 3-2, and PSG beat Marseille 3-1. PSG go 20 points clear of Lille with a game in hand while Lyon, and Marseille make up the top four. Monaco are 16th 9 points clear of the relegation zone.
