Weekend Football Preview

The race continues!

Premier League MW 30

Crystal Palace vs. Brighton

13th placed Palace take on 15th placed Brighton in this tough game at Selhurst Park. Brighton are poor away from home as has been the case the whole season and Palace have picked up some decent results over the past few weeks. Palace should win this game. Brighton beat Palace 3-1 in the reverse fixture.

Cardiff City vs. West Ham

9th placed West Ham travel to 18th placed Cardiff as one looks to seal a top 10 finish while the other hopes to survive in the Premier League. West Ham are good opposition but a trip to Wales is always tricky. Cardiff need to seal a win if they hope to increase their odds of survival while West Ham should win on paper. West Ham beat Cardiff 3-1 in the reverse fixture.

Huddersfield vs. Bournemouth

12th placed Bournemouth travel to bottom of the table Huddersfield as they look to break into the top 10. Huddersfield are still winless under Siewart but have been putting in decent performances while Bournemouth are anything but consistent. If Huddersfield can stay tight they could get a point but Bournemouth should have this in the bag. Bournemouth beat Huddersfield 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

Leicester vs. Fulham

11th vs. 19th as Fulham travel to Leicester. Leicester and Fulham are under new management and both Rodgers, and Parker are seeking their first wins. Leicester played well but Fulham were not bad against Chelsea and so this should be an interesting game to keep an eye on. Fulham really need to win their remaining games to survive for next season. Fulham drew with Leicester 1-1 in the reverse fixture.

Newcastle vs. Everton

14th vs. 10th as both teams try to finish in a possible top 10 position. The teams are both inconsistent but Newcastle are better at home while Everton are poor away from home. A close game between a great manager and an upcoming one. Everton drew with Newcastle 1-1 in the reverse fixture.

Southampton vs. Tottenham

After qualifying for the quarter finals in the Champions League Tottenham return to league action as they travel to Southampton. Southampton are playing well under Hassenhutl and so this should be a good game especially if Southampton can take a couple of points away from Spurs. Spurs’s form in the league has not been great of late and more dropped points could find themselves in the thick of a top four struggle. Tottenham beat Southampton 3-1 in the reverse fixture.

Man City vs. Watford

1st vs. 8th as City look to make a gap between them and Liverpool while Watford continue their journey for a 7th placed finish. Watford are a good team this season and should push City for a win as City have just about won their last few games. City should just about win this game but Watford have the capability of causing an upset. City beat Watford 1-2 in the reverse fixture.

Liverpool vs. Burnley

2nd vs. 16th as Liverpool hope to return to the top after dropping back into 2nd. Liverpool need to get back to winning ways and Burnley are ripe for the taking. Burnley can be stubborn defensively but as Liverpool are at home this should be an easy three points for the reds. Burnley lost to Liverpool 1-3 in the reverse fixture.

Arsenal vs. Man United

The game of the weekend comes at the Emirates as high flying United travel to struggling Arsenal. United fought back to beat PSG and qualify for the quarter final albeit luckily. Arsenal perhaps unluckily drew with Spurs last weekend but lost to Rennes 3-1 in the Europa League on Thursday. The teams need a win to increase top four chances but in current form United could win this game. United drew with Arsenal 2-2 in the reverse fixture.

La Liga MW 27

Atletico entertain Leganes, Barcelona welcome Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla play Real Sociedad, and Real Madrid travel to Valladolid. Barcelona are flying high at the moment while Real Madrid look to focus on a top four finish.

Serie MW 27

Juventus welcome Udinese, Milan travel to Chievo, Inter welcome SPAL, Atalanta travel to Sampdoria, Napoli travel to Sassuolo, and Roma having sacked Di Francesco welcome Empoli. Decent games in Italy with a race for top four the most important thing at the moment.

Bundesliga MW 25

Dortmund welcome Stuttgart, Leipzig welcome Augsburg, Bayern entertain Wolfsburg, Monchengladbach travel to Mainz, Hoffenheim welcome Nurnberg, and Frankfurt travel to Dusseldorf. Bundesliga is heating up and with Dortmund knocked out of the Champions League as well they can now focus on recovering and winning the title.

Ligue MW 28

PSG travel to Nantes, Lyon travel to Strasbourg, Monaco welcome Bordeaux, Lille travel to St.Etienne, Montpellier welcome Angers, and Marseille entertain Nice. PSG got knocked out and for another season they will win the Ligue 1 but its an empty feeling really. The race for top four and Monaco’s climb continue.
