Football never ceases to surprise.
Premier League MW 20
Brighton 1 vs. 0 Everton
Everton’s inconsistency continued while Brighton kept up their good form at home by beating Everton. Locadia scored the only goal in the 59th minute to seal the points for the Seagulls. Brighton remain 13th in the table while Everton drop into 10th.
Fulham 1 vs. 0 Huddersfield
A 91st minute goal by Mitrovic clinched three points for Fulham in a relegation battle. Ranieri’s second win in charge keeps them 19th but opens up a 4 point gap between bottom placed Huddersfield.
Leicester 0 vs. 1 Cardiff City
I thought after beating Chelsea and City Leicester would be able to manage a win against Cardiff but football had other stories in mind. Camarasa scored a screamer in the 92nd minute to steal three points for Cardiff and move them into 16th while Leicester dropped down into 8th.
Tottenham 1 vs. 3 Wolverhampton
No one should ever say Tottenham are title contenders because as soon as someone does they fail. Kane opened the scoring in the 22nd minute in what looked to be a 3rd successive win in the league but Wolves came out a different animal in the 2nd half. Boly equalised in the 72nd minute and Jimenez and Costa added goals in the 83rd and 87th minute to seal the deal. Tottenham drop back down into 3rd while Wolves move back into 7th.
Watford 1 vs. 1 Newcastle
Rondon scored in the 29th minute and Newcastle seemed like they would hold on for an important win but Doucoure scored in the 82nd minute to earn Watford a point. Watford move up one place into 9th while Newcastle remain 15th in the table.
Liverpool 5 vs. 1 Arsenal
Many though Liverpool would win but for them to win in this manner was unexpected, although with Arsenal’s defensive crisis it should have been expected. Maitland Niles opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 11th minute but that only managed to wake up the beast that was Liverpool. Firmino went on to score a hattrick along with goals from Mane and Salah to continue Liverpool’s run. Liverpool now increase their lead at the top to 7 points while Arsenal remain 5th but only 3 points ahead of United and now 5 behind Chelsea who are 4th.
Burnley 2 vs. 0 West Ham
Burnley got a surprise win against the Hammers as goals from Wood and McNeil in the first half proved enough. Burnley remain 18th in the table with the win while West Ham drop down into 11th with the loss.
Southampton 1 vs. 3 Man City
There was no chance that City would lose three games in a row and that was the case as Fernandinho’s return made sure that they returned to winning ways. Silva opened the scoring before Hojbjerg equalised only for Ward-Prowse to score and own goal and Aguero to score right before half-time. City return to 2nd ahead of their visit by Liverpool while Southampton remain 17th in the table.
Man United 4 vs. 1 Bournemouth
United’s party continues to go on as they thrashed Bournemouth at Old Trafford. Pogba scored two, while Rashford, and Lukaku added the rest for the Red Devils. Ake did score a consolation goal right before half time and Bailly was sent off for the Devils in the second half. United continued their rise as they now sit only 3 points behind Arsenal while Bournemouth remain 12th with the loss.
